Accessing Encrypted Files

My setup:

I have one HDD with two partitions (C and D). I have XP Home on C: and XP
Pro on D:.

I encrypted a folder that was in C:\Documents & Settings\Admin.Mike\My
Documents\ called "PaperPort". The folder turned green, all was good and I
could access it.

Well, I wanted to switch to Windows x64 so I copied the encrypted
"PaperPort" folder to my D:\ partition, then uninstalled XP Home and replaced
it with x64.

Long story short, x64 didn't work so I reinstalled XP Home. Now when I
locate the "PaperPort" folder that I copied to my D:\ partition, I cannot
access it. It says "Access Denied".

Is there any way to access these files? Please help.

Thanks

Jupiter,

First, thanks for responding.

And on second thought, I believe it was XP Pro not XP Home that did the
original encrypting.

HOWEVER, I have now loaded XP Home back on C: (with XP Pro still remaining
on D:\). I have booted both OS and still cannot access files.

Any ideas?

You would need the encryption key, which was in the old user-profile. (Under
"Documents and Settings") in the XP Pro partition. The Administrator profile
will also have had a copy. Unfortunately if this is gone then there's not
much hope.
