Accessing emails from another PC

S

Sharon

Hello,
I use MSN for my personal emails and Windows Mail for my work emails.
With MSN, I can access my emails from anywhere in the world but I can only
access my Windows Mail emails from this PC. Is there something wrong with the
way I have set up Windows Mail, or is this the same for everyone who uses
Windows Mail?

Many thanks
Sharon
PS I'm not very technical so please keep you answers jargon free - thanks.

You need to set Mail, or any other email app you may decide to use, to leave
a copy on the server.
You can then logon to your ISP web mail, from anywhere and check msgs. NB
this for received mail only.

Thanks for your reply DL.
How do I do set Mail to leave a copy on my server (sorry, I don't even know
what this means!). If I do this, will I be able to view my received mail but
not my sent mail? Also, the main reason for asking is that I need to reboot
my PC and the last time I did this I lost all my Windows Mail emails. If I
leave a copy on my server and then reboot my PC, will I be able to retrieve
all of my emails?

Many thanks
Sharon

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Advanced.
Enable "Leave a copy of messages on the server."
You may also want to select one or both of the associated 'remove'
options, or else messages will accumulate on the server until your
quota is exceeded.
