accessing email account from two different locations

Hi, I have an optium online email account. At home I have my pop and smtp set
up for optonline.net. Works fine. When I'm in my office we use Covad DSL.
I can receive my Optonlie emails but not send. So used smtp.covad.net to send
emails out. I set up on my Outlook 2003, a new account that has the same pop
info but smtp.covad.net. So when I'm in the office I set the Covad account
as default, when I'm home I set the optonline account as default. This works
fine. My only problem is when I'm in the Office (covad account set to
default) my email that I reply to, will sit in my Outbox. But I can create a
new email to the same email address that I was trying to reply to, and the
email will go out. The only time my reply email were sent out of the Outbox
was when I went home (switched to optonline account) to my Optimune online
network. Any ideas. Thanks Al

Hi I have no clue what your talking about however you sound like you might
know how to help me w/ my problem. I'm having trouble posting a new message
for some reason, anyway I was curious if you know how to set up outlook from
the beginning so that I can receive email, like what email address do I use,
can I use my yahoo address and have the messages come up in outlook or do I
need a different address? do you know?

I know exactly what is happening with your account. The way that you have it
set up at home is correct, as you are using the isp that your email is
through. However, when you are at work, you aren't. Therefore, you need to
go into the setting of your home email account(at work) and use the same
outgoing mail server that you use for your work email account. You have to
send the mail out through the server related to the network. I hope this
helps.

I understand what your are saying dragonflygirl. That is exactly what I did.
There is a funny thing that is happening. At "work-coved" I use my home
email account "optonline account". In outlook I can receive my home emails
and I can send NEW emails out. But if I reply to an email that I already
have or just received it will sit in my outbox, even if I hit send/receive
button. So I thought it may be a problem with the email I just received. So
I would create a new email and send it to the person whos email I just
received, and this would send. It just replying to emails, they don't go
out. So does outlook treat "replied" emails differently than "new" emails?

Thanks

Yahoo email does not allow POP3 access for free. You need to pay Yahoo, I
think, $20/year. Then Yahoo will allow you to use Outlook to receive and
send your Yahoo email. Yahoo has all the instructs to do this. When you
logon to your yahoo account, go to Mail Upgrades. It is explained here.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood the problem. Are you able to see the error
message that comes up when it tried to send? Or, do you even get one?

I don't have the exact wording but it is on the lines of " the sending smtp
server is not reponding". It seems as if it is trying to send the replied
email out through the optonline smpt server rather than the covad smpt
server. This is my guess. Just to recap. Covad is at work. My email
account is Optonline(home). This only happends at work. What I do is,
depending one which location I am located at, I swich my account to that
default setting. This allows me to send emails out through the correct SMPT
server. This just does not work when I'm replying an email. Only replies
and it does not matter who sent the email. Any idea would help. Thanks
