Access restrictions

P

Paul

I have been trying to change the settings in the browser
(IE6) on my stand-alone computer, something I have done
many times before, but I keep getting the following
message:

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in
effect on this computer. Please contact your system
administrator."

Trouble is, there is no system administrator, just me and
my lonely PC. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Paul

Spyware can cause this:
Go here and follow the instructions:
http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
Download all recommended programs in No.1,
Follow the instruction in No. 2 & 3 for using the programs. And there are
help & FAQ at the download sites of the programs.

It is a good idea to run these programs in safe mode. Instructions for Safe
Mode here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=315222

Also do a virus scan with your updated AV program

Do you use Spybot? If so, look under Help/Search/lock and follow
directions from there
