access quits after a few minutes

I am using Access 2002 with Access 2000 as a server. My problem is on my new
XP machine access shuts down after a few minutes of not using it. I then
have to log off and back on to get into my database. Any ideas?
Thanks

Kristy,

Do you get this with a particular Access database, or any database? Does
this happen on a specific machine only, or any machine?
If the answers are a particular database / any machine, then it's the result
of "auto-exit if idle" functionality built in the database; it's a fairly
common technique on multi-user databases, aimed to reduce unnecessary load
on the back end.

This is just happening on our access database and with two computers on the
network. One computer worked until moved (I didn't move it. The person who
did said he didn't change any security settings) Where do I get to the
auto-exit settings. I sure appreciate the help.

Kristy,

This is not very helpful. In order to establish whether this is intended
behaviour by the developer of the database or a problem, please answer the
following questions explicitly:

* Does it happen with that particular database file only, or any database
file opened on a PC where you get this problem?

* Does it happen on any PC opening the particular database file, or just on
one specific PC?

* Has it always happened with that particular database file, or did it start
at a specific point in time, while it had not been happening before, when
using the same database file?

This is the only database it happens in.

It is happening on 2 PC's. One PC was working fine until it was moved. The
other PC is brand new.

It hadn't happened on the new PC until it was moved.

It doesn't work this way on any of my other computers. We have a small
office and I try to handle the IT. The gentleman who helps me with Access
via phone doesn't know anything about this issue.
Thanks

This says it's not an Access installation problem.

This is really funny! The only thing that would make sense is a loose LAN
card (if not embedded in the motherboard) that moved or a bad network
socket/line in the new position, but that would result in database
corruption, not Access closing down!

This says it's not intended functionality built in the database.

Probably a silly question, but have you scanned the problematic PC's for
viruses? I can't think of anything else under the circumstances.

Nikos
