I'm trying to modify a database that someone sent me.
When I try to modify a query it tells me that I must get the owner's
permission. I've never used security on the databases that I create. I guess
I'm always System or the Administrator.
I can probably get the author's user ID but then, I do I get it into Access
to let me get at the queries?
Thanks.

You'll need the originator's Workgroup Information File (*.mdw) and their
admin logon credentials. You'll need to join the workgroup either via a
shortcut with the "/wrkgrp" switch in the command line or via the Workgroup
Admin utility.
