Is the W98 PC connecting to a PC running XP Home? There are some file
sharing limitations

Limitations to file sharing
While you can share most files on your computer, there are a couple of
limitations:
a.. You cannot share your copy of most software programs, such as
Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. You can share files created by the
program, but the program itself needs to be installed on each computer in
your workgroup.
b.. You cannot share certain protected folders on your computer. These
include the Documents and Settings folder, the Windows System or System 32
folder, and the Program Files folder. You also can't share files from other
users’ profiles.

I just set up a network and I can't seem to access files on my win XP
computer (which is the one attached to the Internet via a D-Link router)
from
my win 98 se computer.
I get the "access denied" error message or "resoure unavailable". Is there
something I need to do on the win 98 se machine to see the other devices on
the network ????
Tony, Stop the Browse Master on the Windows 98 computer, and ensure that the
browser is running on the Windows XP computer.
