Unable to Access Computer from a Network

We use four computers. They are as follows:

pc 1 = Win XP Pro
pc 2 = Win XP Home
pc 3 = Windows 98 SE
pc 4 = Windows 98 SE

pc 1 can see and access all computers on the network. pc 3 and 4 can see
all computers but can't access pc 1 (error is "no permission to access
resource". pc 2 can see pc 3 and 4 and access but can't see pc 1 or access
it.

Printer sharing works for all pc's on the network.

Sharing is configured and up and running on all pc's.

Anyone got any ideas what is quite not right?

Tony,

The error referred to "no permission to access resource" can come from any one
of a few problems.
# Lack of physical or logical connectivity.
# Name resolution problems.
# Interfering firewalls.
# Improper network components.
# Browser conflict.
# File sharing setup / actual permissioning.

You could read this article which will give you details about the above list.

Or you could provide details about your network, and diagnostic information, and
we can work with you and diagnose the problem. Diagnosis starts with this
article:

If you actually have Windows 98 (95 / ME) computers, along with Windows XP (NT /
2000 / 2003), on the LAN, as the OP does, you may want to look for a Windows 9x
/ NT browser conflict, which is a common problem for mixed LANs. So you would
do well to read this article:

You would also do well to read this article, so next time you ask for help you
can ask in a more effective way:

Please get back to us with any questions.
