"Access Denied" on an previous user folder

I just upgraded my computer Windows XP from Home to Pro,
the problem was that the Home was in Spanish and I wanted
the pro in english, so I could only do a "new install"
not upgrade, so when the new system was done, I lost
access to the folders of my previous "users" (The folders
still in the Documents and Settings folder) but I only
get a window with an "Access Denied" message, does
someone has an idea how to get around this?. -Thanks
