Access Denied for remote printer

I just got a new DELL computer with Microsoft XP Home
Edition installed. The DELL is connected to the linksys
router through its Ethernet card and the router to a DSL
modem.

I already have an old Compaq connected to this same
linksys router through similar configuration. A USB
printer is connected to this Compaq.

I managed to install a network print driver for this
remote printer and print to it from my own account.

However, once I log off from my account, the printer is
disabled as "Access Denied". How do I re-enable the
permissions so that the access to a remote printer is
allowable at all times for multiple user accounts?

Thanks!

Right click on the printer icon and select "Properties". Go to the Security
tab and set permissions for users that should have access to the printer.

.

I did the right click on the printer icon,
selected "Properties", and enabled all permissions for
Everyone and a few others on the Compaq, which is Windows
2000.

After rebooting the new DELL, which has XP and first login
and logging in to the shared files from the Compaq, it
sees that the remote printer hooked up to the Compaq as
ready to accept new print requests. And I can print at
that point.

I had to "activate" the shared document folder from the
Compaq to the Dell in order for the new DELL to see the
remote printer from the Compaq. "Activation" means
entering the user name and password for the network card
on the Compaq.

However, after I log off from my account, all network
connections are closed. All subsequent logins see that
the remote printer has access denied. I have not tried to
re-activate the shared file folder from the Compaq at this
point.

Now the only way I can get it to work is to uninstall the
print driver and reinstall it. I don't know if moving the
connection of the printer from the Compaq to the DELL will
work. But I need to be able to print from the Compaq and
Dell.

Thanks!
