Access and Briefcase synchronization

I have a flash drive that I keep the design master of a bunch of Access DBs
I have. I use that flash drive to synch up on two desktops and a laptop.
Even if I haven't touched a database, every one on the drive shows it needs
to be updated. Is there a way to show that the one on the flash drive is the
master and the others are replicas? I've done the synchronization and
recover design master, but when I plug into another machine, it's as if I
never did it. Thanx.

My recollection is that the design master has to have a permanent location
and not move. Something about how replicas and masters identify and keep
track of each other internally. I seem to recall that, by design, a master
can't be on removable media: even if it seems (to you) to have the same
address each time you plug it in, it will internally be recognized as a
"new" db reference that has never been synced to.

Note that *ALL* of the above are very, very hazy "factoids", so don't rely
on them as gospel. But perhaps it will point you in a fruitful direction.
