Cannot synchronize data after server name change

Hoping there's a workaround for this....

I've created a number of partial replicas from a design master sitting on
our file server and I can no longer synchronize the replicas back to the
master.

Error message: "Local or Anonymous replicas must synch only to their
designated hub replica"

The name of our file server where the master sits has recently changed and I
suspect this is causing the error. Can anyone confirm that this would cause
the synchronize to fail?

Can anyone suggest a fix (other than importing the data manually)!

Thanks

You're out of luck. You likely can't change the server name back, as
the parent replica(s) have already had their names changed (though
if it's possible to do that, it might be worth trying).

This is the main reason local and anonymous replicas are simply of
no value -- it's too easy for them to be orphaned, and there's no
real justification for them except that you choose to abuse
replication on purpose.
