Access 97 with Office XP

Our company has upgraded our computers from Windows 98 to
Windows XP, and from Office 97 to Office XP. However,
the company is not supporting Access 2002, so they kept
Access 97 on the computer. I am getting a variety of
errors when I try to use Access 97. By the way, it was
not reinstalled when the software was upgraded. I just
know tried to import an Excel 2002 file and it didn't
recognize it. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks.

Greetings,

I ran into this problem when we went from Office 97 to Office 2000.

To start fresh, uninstall both versions of Office off the system.

Now install Office 97, then install XP BUT -> make sure you choose to
install Office XP to another directory!!! so in the end you will have
Access XP andAccess 97 on the computer. In other words, you should have a
full blown copy of Office 97 AND a full blown copy of Office XP. If this
works you can
remove components later.

Forget trying to use their options to do it. You may again end up with what
you got now.

Let us know how it turns out ;)

Not sure what you meant by "IT" in "... it was not reinstalled when the
software was upgraded."

However, I don't think A97 would be able to read an Excel 2002 file since
the Excel 2002 file format was devised after A97 software by about 5 years.
I don't think Microsoft can be that future-proof.

Check the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles about multiple Access
versions on the same computer:
