Access 2003 Subform Display Bug?

Alan

I have a database application developed using Access 2002 SP3 (created
using Access 2002 file format). One of the forms in that application
displays donors in the main form and a datasheet of their donations in
the attached subform. The subform was created using the subform
wizard. All fonts in the main and subform are MS Sans Serif 8 pt. The
form and subform display perfectly on my system.

Today, I took the application to the user who is running Access 2003
SP2. Everything runs as expected except for the one form/subform
previously described. On the user's machine, information in the main
form displays correctly but information in the subform (both the
column headings and the data records) appears as if formatted with a
symbol font such as Wingdings. The fonts used in the forms are loaded
on the user's machine so this feels like a bug to me. However, I've
been unable to locate any specific reference to it in either the
newsgroups or the MS Knowledge Base. Does anyone know how to correct
this? Thanks.

I corrected the problem by going back to the user's machine, deleting
the subform and recreating it using their Access 2003 subform wizard.
This corrected the problem. This was easy enough in this situation
because the subform was very simple. However, it would be most
inconvenient not to be able to port future subforms created in Access
2002 to Access 2003 users. While I was on the Access 2003 machine, I
noticed that subforms created in Access 2003 are presented differently
in design view than those created in Access 2002. In the 2002-created
subform, the main form displays the subform name as well as the
subform fields. In the 2003-created subform, only the subform name is
displayed in the main form. To see the detail fields, you must open
the subform itself in design view.

Based on the above, it seems clear that Microsoft changed something in
Access 2003 regarding how subforms work as compared with Access 2002.
Any suggestions on how I can make these two "play together" for future
projects with subforms would be greatly appreciated.
