Acces 97 won't run after uninstalling OfficeXP Pro trial version

I've been running an OEM version of Office 97 Pro successfully for 5 years. After uninstalling OfficeXP Pro trial version at the end of the trial period, and reinstalling Office 97 Pro, I'm getting the message that there isn't a license for Access 97 on my machine and it won't run. Word 97, Excel 97, and Outlook 97 run fine after reinstallation of Office 97 Pro.

I'm only able to get Access 97 to run off the CD even after a total uninstall and reinstall

Actually, it probably has nothing to do with Office XP having been
installed. It's a common problem, usually due to, of all things, a font.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=141373 for details (and the solution)
