i can't seem to get rid of this about:blank page that
keeps hijacking my homepage and deterring me from
accessing my yahoo mail. how can i get rid of this
problem?

Run a full system scan in Safe Mode (F8 before Windows
screen during boot/reboot) and remove anything found.

Now go to Tools > Advanced Options > Browser Hijack
Settings Restore. Modify IE browser settings that you
want modified.
