Able to send but not receive Emails

Mousesurfer

Hi there:
My computer just recently had a melt down and I just had to use my HP
Recovery Disks & reinstall all my software including - Microsoft Office Home
and Student . Now for some reason my Windows Mail Ver 6.0 has decided to no
longer receive incoming emails.

The error message it's giving me is as follows: "Your Server has
unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include
server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Account:'POP.telus.net', Server: 'POP3.telus.net'; Protocol: POP3, Port 110,
Secure (SSL): No, Error Number 0X800CCC0F

My emal address for this account is: (e-mail address removed) I work off of
Windows Intenet Explorer 8 and my ISP is Telus (as I live in Calgary,
Alberta, Canada)

Yet....my Yahoo! Canada email account of (e-mail address removed) works fine????

Any ideas on how I can rectify this issue?

You say you "reinstall all my software including - Microsoft Office" yet
this newsgroup is for Windows Mail. Which one are you using and which one do
you want to use?

[Well, you're gonna wanna change your passwords now...if not get new email
addresses, now that you've permanently posted both of them on the
internet...]

"Unexpectedly terminated" is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Gary: I am with Telus Security Services and it provides scanning of
Antivirus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Fraud, Phone, etc.

Server-based security is not a problem for Windows Mail.
Client-side security programs can interfere with Windows Mail.
