A7V333-X; SDRAM Bank Interleave: what that means??

Story is: I replaced XP1800+ with XP3000+, MB is A7V333-X, it supports
up to 3000+ and 333Mhz bus.
1800+ was running at 266Mhz FSB altho my 2x 512Mb RAM are
PC2700(333Mhz).

When I installed the 3000+ I had memory issues, corrupted files, games
lockup, etc, after 5min at the most. I suspected it was my memory (1 is
Samsung, the other AZERAM) , I ordered PC3200 'cause I was suspecting
the 333Mhz DIMMs not to be up to the task to run at a real 333Mhz.

I had put the 1800+ back in until I get the new RAM, but last night I
give it another try, in the BIOS I saw the setting:

"SDRAM BANK INTERLEAVE" ,
options are: disabled, 2 bank, 4 bank, auto.

It was set to auto, I manually set it to '4 Bank' because 2 slot of DIMM
= 4 bank .
Now the 3000+ seems to run fine.
In the manual, it's doesn't say a word about what does that option
means, anyone have a clue?? Why it wasn't working on AUTO which is the
recommended setting?

Thanks in advance
