A7V333 Hi speed USB Problem

I am running XP Pro Service pack 1 and my A7V333 (bios 1017) 2.0 USB ports
will not come up as high speed ports. My scanner keeps connecting to them
as 1.1 ports. Windows Update (where the driver for 2.0 is supposed to be)
does not offer me any USB updates. Device manager lists them as either USB
Root hub or VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller. The only
drivers I found on the ASUS site were for Win 98SE or ME.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get the 2.0 USB ports, then ones by
the sound connectors, to come up as high speed?

First off the USB 2.0 drivers are a part of the XP Service Pack 1
update. So if you have that installed you should be ok.

If you look in device manager you should have 5 listings of "USB Root
Hub" 4 listings of "VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal host controller"
and 1 instance of "VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller."
If not then right click on the ones you do have and select
"Uninstall" after all are gone, reboot. Upon bootup Windows will
find them and automatically install the proper drivers. You should
then have the entries in device manager as mentioned above. I don't
know why XP has problems finding the 2.0 ports initially, ask Billy.

Also remember that on the A7V333 all USB ports are not created equal
(see attached JPG's).

I hope this helps.
