A7N8X-X: shut down error in Win2k due to nv_agp.sys

When I try to shut down, there is a blue screen with an error message that
refers to the driver nv_agp.sys.

It seems to me that this driver is used for the "NVIDIA AGP Host to PCI
Bridge" system device. I am using an old PCI video card. My guess is that
the driver was poorly written and does not know how to cope with this.

If I uninstall the driver, the computer shuts down properly, but it asks for
my disk containing the driver the next time that I log in.

Help!!

Regard,
Phil

Just a guess, but can you go into Device Manager and disable the
"AGP Host to PCI Bridge" device (disable, not delete) ? Perhaps
with that device disabled, nv_agp.sys will have no reason to load ?
And, being disabled, maybe it won't ask for a driver on the next
reboot.

Just remember to re-enable the device before installing an AGP
card.

Thanks. I thought of trying that last night, but I was too tired by that
point and never got around to it. I'll post later this evening whether it
works or not.

Disabling the driver seems to have worked. Thanks.
