Windows 2000 Shutdown Problems

J

Justus

I just installed Windows 2000, updated all the service
packs, and am now tearing my hair (what little there is
left) out.

When I go to shutdown, I get the wonderful blue screen of
death, and it says:

*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000014, 0x00000002, 0x00000000,
0xED418DAB)

*** Address ED418DAB base at ED418000, DateStamp 3d7903e1 -
nv_agp.sys

Now, I don't know much of what that means, but the last
part "nv_agp.sys" I recognize. It's the driver for my
motherboard (Asus A7N8X) AGP driver... but I'm running a
PCI card. (yes I know, I'm planning on upgrading soon.)

My question I guess is: is there a way to remove that
reference and perhaps be able to shut down properly? (it
just hangs there, after I disabled the "auto-restart on
error")

Thanks in advance for any help,

-Justus

Short term fix:

For this board you can simply visit Add/Remove programs and choose to
change the installation the nVidia driver pack.

Choose the option to remove the GART driver and nv_agp.sys will no
longer be loaded. Upon rebooting you'll have an unknown PCI device.
Disable it.
