A7N8X Deluxe v2.0 & -E 2x512 MB memory problem (one more time)

A7N8X Deluxe v2.0

DDR PC32000 CL2.5 (11 3 3 2.5) @ FSB 200 @ 2.6V

2X256 MB TwinMos with M-Tec chip CL2.5: works fine all the time

but 2X512 MB...

TwinMos with M-Tec chip CL2.5: one month OK, then errors
The same, but other batch (different pn and sn): one week OK, then errors

TwinMos with TwinMos chip Dual Kit CL2.5: one month OK, then errors

Samsung with Samsung chip CL3 @ CL2.5 FSB200: four months OK, then errors

Then I decided to buy a new motherboard, and new memory modules:

A7N8X-E Deluxe
&
TwinMos Dual Kit 2X512 PC3200 CL2.5 @ FSB 200

Everitihing was fine one month, then errors occured again

After that I returned the modules to the shop where I bought them, took
money,
went to another shop and bought:

A-Data DDR 500 dual kit [email protected] FSB 200: since now - 40 days (touch wood)
OK

http://www.adata.com.tw/en/p-d1-03.htm

On problematic modules, errors occured even in single channel with one
stick in motherboard, and FSB 166, and @ 2.8V.

The worst thing is, that all invalid modules with errors in my mobo,
were absolutelly OK in computers of two friends of mine (Epox 8RDA3+,
Abit NF7-S v2.0), and in service of the shop where I bought the modules
(tested on some Asus P4 based board)!!!

The rest of my configuration:

Tagan 380W (vetically mounted - old midi tower) 1-3% Voltage deviations.
Barton M 2500+ @ 11X200 @ 1.45V ( thx to little program "8rdavcore"
http://www.hasw.net/8rdavcore/
which automatically changes Vcore&FSB in Windows depending on CPU usage)
Zalman 7000B Cu (AS5 grease)
ATI R9700 @ 200/200
Samsung SP-120N
Pioneer 108
2X internal ViPower HDD rack (max 2X120 GB)
1X external HDD rack USB
13 fans:
12 cm enermax 12 fab intake
2X8 cm enermax 8 fab outtake
2X5 cm no name outtake
2X5 cm no name system HDD cooler
3X4 cm no name in internal HDD rack (occasionally)
3X4 cm no name in internal HDD rack (occasionally)

2X little electronic circuit for fan speed regulation (one for graphic
card, and the other for the system HDD cooler & case fans)

P.S.
Don't even think that I have a noisy machine because of 17 fans! ;-)
All fans are slowed down with regulator or resistor, until they become
noiseless.
10 feet away you can't hear the comp (my friends are witnesses).
That machine is next to my bed, and I sleep 24/7 with the computer on.

Temps in silent mode:
Room 22°C / case 22°C / CPU 42-53°C - socket
On A7N8X Deluxe v2.0, CPU idle temp with S2KCtl was 32°C on die.)
On -E version of the mobo, S2KCtl downgrades idle temp for 3-4°C.

Speedfan is in standard setup too

Has anybody got an idea, why modules go mad, suddenly after a different
period of time (two weeks - 4 months)?

In the beggining, and a period of time they work just fine, with no errors
in Memtest86, and even in Prime95?

If you're sleeping 24/7, which is very bad for you anyway, you won't need
/any/ PC period ;) On a more serious note, your PC appears to be possessed &
you would be well advised to have it exorcised by a priest.

If you decide to exorcise this work of the devil yourself, disable all of
those infernal apps 1st, run RAM that's known to work with this m/b then
start from 1st principles such as running at stock voltages, speeds & slack
timings. XP-M 2500+ @ 1.4V sounds a bit low for 11x200 - your problem isn't
necessarily RAM it could be that you're running far too much junk off your
PSU! You supply so much extraneous information, it's difficult to decipher.
Good luck sorting it. You should be able to get 210MHz x11 to 12.5 with your
m/b CPU combo. I'd choose between Crucial Ballistix or Corsair RAM. Your PC
sounds like a Victorian sitting room - too much furniture!

Do you have power outages and brown-outs often in your area?
Might want to get a BackUPS if you don't already have one.
No idea , just a guess. ;p

One posibility came to my mind:
Maybe, just maybe, warm air from HDD racks cause problems.
But...
That air couldn't be warmer than 30-35°C (because HDD temps are below
40°C), but I suppose that any DDR module should work on that ambient
temperature in the computer case.

For sure, I did some memory tests without HDD racks on.

But why those modules, after they show invalidity in my comp, work fine in
other machines, but in my comp, immediately show errors (even on cold
boot!)!?
If you decide to exorcise this work of the devil yourself, disable all of
those infernal apps 1st, run RAM that's known to work with this m/b then
start from 1st principles such as running at stock voltages,

Memory in my comp allways works at stock voltages (2.6V)
speeds & slack timings.

I did slow down FSB, and did slack timings.
TwinMos dual kit had been working at 166 MHz for two weeks, and suddenly
showed BSOD.
XP-M 2500+ @ 1.4V

Nope.

AXMH2500
IQYHA 0351MPMW
- your problem isn't necessarily RAM it could be that you're running far too much junk off your
PSU!

But why then errors don't occure immediately, but after some period of
time?
Why "out of the box" modules work fine?
You supply so much extraneous information, it's difficult to decipher.

I hoped that they may be useful.
Good luck sorting it. You should be able to get 210MHz x11 to 12.5 with your

I'm able already, but I don't need it yet.
I'd choose between Crucial Ballistix or Corsair RAM.

Me too, but price of that RAM is aproximately double than A-Data.(
For that money, I'd rather buy Abit NF7-S.
If I sold Asus motherboard, I'd be in max. 30€ deficit.
Your PC sounds like a Victorian sitting room - too much furniture!

Rather "looks" like...
Sounds like silence. ;-)

Every peace of crap in my PC is there with some reason.
But obviously they are not so happy together, as I wish them to be .
I hope that, in some way, incompatible memory modules were partybreakers.

Do you have power outages and brown-outs often in your area?

AFAIK, no.
But, in that case, invalid modules will become OK, after voltage
stabilization, and even brand new modules wouldn't work, during voltages
are unstable.

When I put "invalid" modules in my comp to find out the reason of my
problems, which all started usually one month after putting in the
motherboard (I tried single channel, dual channel, single module, highest
voltage, slower speed, slack timings...), they don't work as they are
supposed to, actually, they don't work without errors.

But, always when I return to vendor these "invalid" modules they work in
other computers just fine.
Might want to get a BackUPS if you don't already have one.

I don't think I need one.
But I have lightning-overvoltage protection on my 220V socket multiplyer.
No idea , just a guess.

THX any way.)

Perfectly choosed smiley!
I have picture in my mind.)

donny

all my memory modules that were bad in asus a7n8x-deluxe were fine in every
other board they were put into..
so answer me this. is it the ram or the motherboard ? i already know the
answer. waiting for someone at asus to pick up his boots and make a board,
where there is no memory issues .
