A7N8X-E Deluxe cmos checksum error loading defaults

I'm trying to install an A7N8X-E Deluxe with an 1100 AMD not duron chip.
512 mb of Kingston ram, bio 1012. MB is new, cpu and ram are from working
machines. Get cmos checksum error: loading defaults then freezes...can't f1
or del to get to bios. have replaced batt, cleared rtc ram and taken out
batt about a dozen times. removed all peripherals. put different mem in.
set to 200 fsb. Sheesh....tried everything i know but always same thing.
after initial post beep there is a slight kinda low level click/beep. get
usual bios start but then error message....sigh....
any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks

Did you try changing the CPU_FSB jumper, the one to the left of the
Northbridge ?

Have you plugged amplified speakers into the green Lineout
jack on the back of the computer ? Vocal POST error messages
come out there. See the chapter in the manual, that has a list
of the error messages, because the messages are not very
clear and you'll have to listen pretty hard to make out
what they are saying.

Yeah...tried to change fsb actually to both settings and cleared and removed
batt each time...still nothing. Tried a diff video card and speaker said
vid card was crap but nothing else. looked thru manual. Even tried to
upgrade bios but it won't boot to floppy. so guess stuck...
thanks much for reply.
guess it's rma time...

Have you tried a different CPU? Just curious as to whether that would make
a difference or not.

A dodgy HDD can give that message. I always try the other ATA
connector since one can be bad on the mobo but the other fine. Check
IDE cables also.

Before you return the board, try building the system up one
component at a time, with the system components sitting on
your table top. That is called the "cardboard test". A phone
book (non conductive cover) makes an excellent base for the
motherboard, and leaves room for the PCI/AGP card faceplate
tabs to hang down.

You can start with just the blank motherboard and the PSU.
You can fake a power switch, by using the tip of a screwdriver,
to short the two power switch pins together on the PANEL header.
A momentary contact should turn the board on - you'll hear the
PSU fan spinning.

Connect your amplified computer speakers to the Lineout and
listen to the error messages. When the board is blank, it'll
complain that no CPU is present. Unplug the computer, then
install the CPU. Power up and repeat the test. This time the
computer should complain that it failed memory test. That
means that the CPU was able to execute enough instructions
to change the symptoms. Add memory, video card + monitor,
keyboard + mouse, and so on, until the system is fully
assembled. Listen to the error message and interpret whether
the last added component was recognized or not.

You may discover just what is up, by proceeding one step
at a time. It could even be that the PSU doesn't have enough
power or something.
