A7N8X 1004 update, memory speed

I hadnt updated my bios since December since my computer ran fine, the asus
update thing never worked and I was too lazy to download it myself,
especially with dial up and their slow loading page.

Last night I gave the auto update a try and it updated me to 1004, with the
defualt bios setup it runs fine, Athlon 2100 (133mhz), pc2700 set at 166mhz,
with my old setup the bios had a sync otption for the memory which gave
slightly better performance according to my 3dmark scores, with the new bios
i dont see a sync option, I see an Auto option which seems to set it at
133mhz but windows wont load, I'll get the windows start screen and then the
computer just reboots itself.

also is there any place on the web which describes some of these bios
options better then the manual does?

i just manually set it to 133mhz using the 100% and it booted fine

I've found so far. As with any BIOS readings, the thing to remember
is that different companies will call the same thing by different
names, hence the confusion.
