A Weird One - Excel Keeps Changing My Data

Excel 2003 used to work fine on this computer but over the last few months
it's started either putting in two decimal places or adding two zeroes in
front of all numbers. For example, when I enter a zip code, it suddenly gets
two decimal places: 28806 becomes 28.806. When I reformat the cells for zip,
it automatically pastes two zeroes in front: 28806 becomes 00806. It simply
will not change back no matter what I do - even formatting numbers as text
doesn't work. Single numbers fare worse - 7, for example, becomes 0.07 and if
I reformat the cells for numbers or try to set it for whole numbers only it
becomes 0 and will not change. Help!

Yes! That did it! Thank you so much - I was afraid I'd have to reinstall the
whole program or something.
