A vertical task pane is locked on the left side of my desktop!

Can't get rid of a vertical pane on the left side of desktop. I'm running
Windows XP Professional. I think the problem originated when I downloaded a
"Yu-gi-oh" wallpaper for my grandson. It seems to be my "Folder Options"
which shows up as an icon in my control panel. When I double click that
icon, nothing happens. The verticle pane has 3 main catagories: Folder
Tasks, Other Places, and Details. Under the 1st heading, there's "Make a new
folder" and "Share this folder". Under "Other Places", there's "Shared
Documents" and "network places". Under "Details", there's only "desktop".
When I highlight any icon on my desktop, I get more options under "Folder
Tasks". I get "Rename, Move, Copy, and Delete this item" and under
"Details", it shows the details of the highlighted icon.
I've tried everything from running my virus check to Ad-Aware SE and I can't
get rid of it.
Can anyone help?

Run the edit on Kelly's site, line 15, "Remove Common Tasks from the

instructions for running the edit are at the top of the page.

OK, I've downloaded and ran the tweak fix. It's still there...should I
reboot now?
