A true mystery...

For the past two weeks, my computer has been randomly turning off
periodically throughout the day but then booting up normally right
after when I turn the power button on again...we thought it may be a
problem with the fan but we downloaded a program that moniters computer
temperatures and everything seems to be fine.

Then about a week ago, it stopped booting up at all. Regardless of
whether it is running on a battery or not, the computer does not
respond at all when I try to turn it on, as if it is completely dead.
But then periodically throughout the day, often hours after I've tried
to turn it on, the computer just suddenly boots up on its own....no
problems with anything once it boots up, everything appears completely
normal. But then it will shut off after an hour or so with no warning
and won't turn back on until it decides to.

Please help....I'm beginning to think my computer has a mind of its own
:)

It's likely a bad motherboard. You could be having problems with the
switch too. Check the connection where the button you push to turn it
on connects to the motherboard and make sure everything there is set up
correctly. If all that's set up right, talk to whoever you got the
motherboard from and exchange it.

possibly....but the motherboard was replaced about a year ago because
the first motherboard was faulty...I wonder what the chances are of
another problem with it
