A Semi-Good Web Browser?

So here is my question:

How long does it take for a company like Microsoft, full of software
engineers to develop a web browser that doesn't crash every 30 seconds?

Answer: 15+ years and counting.

IE 8. Same crap as IE 1, but with fancy buttons.

I'm running almost-plain-vanilla W2k sp4 onna little desktop (for
many years).

I can speak only for IE6: I've jumped thru all the hoops.

IE6 IEXPLORE.EXE continued to run on my system the other day after
-all- processes in Task Mngr were terminated.

Damn near welded the 0 to the 1 on my little Prescott cpu.

I've disabled IE6 on my system. Whatever I need to do, I'll do
with Firefox if at all practical. Hope to never load IE6 into
memory again.

Swiss cheese, compared to IE6, looks to be "100% SOLID"!

IE6 seldom, if ever, crashed here. Ditto for IE7 (including all beta
builds) and IE8 Beta builds. Wonder why?
