I am looking to build a gaming PC sometime in the near future and I am unsure about whether to go for 2GB of quicker RAM (e.g. 800+MHz) or 4GB of slower RAM (533MHz). I appreciate there are other factors to the equation but I am asking purely as a rough guide to getting the most from my memory in the future. I would like to build a machine that wont need too much upgrading to run next year's games like Crysis etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

Definitely the faster memory.

Providing your motherboard supports 800Mhz. Slower memory will slow down the whole machine.

2Gb is plenty for today's games and you can always add another 2Gb at a later date as and when you need it or as budget dictates.

And also assuming your motherboard has 4 memory slots.

Hi (my first post :o bit shy)

Hi WilliamL if you install 4GB Ram and your OS is XP you will only see 3GB This is a security fetcher within XP but can be by passed if your BIOS supports Memory Remapping.
