Hey guys,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW21L running Windows 7 32bit. The system is currently still in factory configuration with 3Gb of DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM.

I am looking to upgrade the machine by changing to a 64 bit OS and installing more RAM.

I have been looking all over the web to find out how much RAM the MBX189 M761 Rev 1.1 Motherboard can support.
Is it solely limited by the OS i.e. 4Gb for 32bit and 16GB for 64bit (Win 7 Home Premium) or does the board have specific limitations as well?
The board has 2 slots so will it except 2 x 4Gb sticks and be able to use them (once upgraded to the 64 bit OS)?

Many thanks for your help

Jeff

... according to Crucial you can only use a max of 4gb, 2x2gb sticks.

any 64bit OS will have no problem "seeing" all that ram. :)

muckshifter, thanks for the reply :)
I had looked at the Crucial site but wasn't sure if it was reporting 4Gb (2x2Gb) because i'm running 32 bit Windows or because that was the boards limit.

Cheers
