A Question to Thomas and other helpers

F

Fred

To say that I have found this group helpful would be an understatement as I
think it's the best thing since sliced bread. If I hadn't found this helpful
site I would have dumped FP a long time ago. My Question is a simple one (I
think). Is anyone keeping a record of all the different questions asked and
resolved. If a help database - with search facilities, could be set up it
would save many of us the bother of asking questions that have been asked
and answered many times before. Who will take up this challenge or is there
currently one that I and a lot of people don't know about. I for one would
subscribe to such a helpful database.

Hi Fred,
you can go to groups.google.com click advanced search type in your query and
type microsoft.public.frontpage.client in the newsgroup box. All posts to
this group going back years are archived there

You'll find several of the MVPs have "FAQs" on their sites
For links to their sites see
http://www.ycoln-resources.com/resources/links/mvpsub1.asp?c=mvp&s=frontpage

IMHO
Search the newsgroup in OE, or use Google Search of
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=microsoft.public.frontpage

I been thinking of doing one, but just don't have the time to actually
populate it and then keep it updated. But I am willing to create and host
the database, if a few others are willing populate it with FP related FAQs

That's a good idea - how about if you me and the rest of the regulars here
pick a topic and think up say 5 faqs for their topic. We should be able to
get a pretty decent faq. I'd be willing to do the site design.

Jon,

Sound goods and thanks for the offer to do the site design, but I think I
can handle that!<vbg>

Hi Thomas.....

I would be glad to help. Do you want to "assign" different people topics...
as has been suggested.... or would you just rather have folks post? Either
way... I will be happy to help with this.

Best to you.....

eThomaston

as a matter of fact.... I've been saving stuff in a word file for my own
use..... so I've already got a few things that could be added... but in some
cases I forgot to save WHO wrote the answers... so I would have to go back
and find the authors so they could get proper credit.

I can do the ones about port 80 stuff
thanks to Jim Cheshires' lessons the other day.
