Hey everyone, I havce 3 hardrives, C, D, and E. Now I
want to copy my windows xp cd to the E drive and use it
to install XP onto C. E has nothing on it. SO i want to
boot off a floppy and install XP of the E directory. So
how do i do it? DO i modify something in the floppy boot
disk to point it to the E directory?

What is the state you want to end up in? From what I can tell, you want an
XP installation on C at the end of this. Can you explain why you can't just
do a normal install from the cd? What's with the idea of copying or
installing onto E? That part is not making sense.

cp

So you have the i386 setup files located on your E: drive? Is the E: drive
formatted FAT or FAT32? If yes to both those, simply boot up to a boot disk
(windows 98SE custom from www.bootdisk.com), load smartdrive by typing
smartdrv at the command prompt and change directory to the i386 directory or
whereever the setup files are located. Type winnt and press enter. You
should be good to go from there.

Smartdrv is not needed when installing from a flat [folder on the hard
drive], only when doing the dos install from CD.

You would need a fat partition to install from the hard drive.
