A question about LiveWeb

I have incorporated LiveWeb into a slide show
At home I have WIN XP and Office 2000. This add-in works like a charm.

I want to use the slideshow at our clubhouse. The system there is using Win
98 SE and PowerPoint 97.
LiveWeb does its thing OK but the screen view is expanded enough that scroll
bars and the tool bars at top are not visible.

The little icon at the bottom left does not appear to advance the show. And
neither the cursor arrows nor typing N for next will let the presentation
advance to the next slide. The only escape I have is to execute alt-tab to
break out. This destroys the flow of the presentation.

This problem does not manifest itself at home.

Is there a straight forward culprit here? Is it the OS or the version of PP?

IIRC, PPT 97 displays at a little different size than 2000 and later. It
adds a small black border to the edge of the screen, so it might be a few
pixels off. But that shouldn't affect things quite as much as what you're
describing.

What screen resolution are you running at in the two different places?

Also, can you make the control just a little smaller on the slide?

All of the static slides display the same no matter where I run the slide

I don't have the screen resolution at hand for the crt at the clubhouse.
Regarding control, I take that to mean the width control on the monitor.
Adjusting the width control changes the width of the raster, but has no
effect on the video content.

When you run through the LiveWeb Insert | Web Page wizard, there's an option
to size the page to XX % of the slide size and another to set the position
at the center of the slide or various other places. You might play with
those.

By "control," I meant the web browser control -- it's how the web browser is
shown on your slide, although I can see that that wasn't clear. So I
downloaded LiveWeb, walked through the wizard, and looked more closely at
the results.

You get a slide with a background-colored autoshape (actually, it's the
color of swatch 1 in your color scheme) that covers a web browser object on
the slide. Select the autoshape (use tab or the select multiple tool or
hover with your mouse) and move it out of the way -- off the edge of the
slide or drag the corner to make it smaller or whatever. Now select the web
browser control, press Shift, and drag the corner of the object to make it
smaller. Pressing Shift constrains the aspect ratio. See if making the web
browser control smaller in this manner helps.

If not, then I think you should contact the author of the add-in since he's
not popped in here yet.

Thanks for the info, Echo S.

Always trying to solve puzzles, I tried installing XP to see what would
happen. I could not leave it on as it was registered to another machine. But
it gave me a chance to see what happened with a different OS.

Now the display of the web page was small enough that at least I could use
the icon at the bottom left of the slide or use cursor controls to advance
the slides. I could not do that previously. Now, while it made the web
page fit the slide, it looked as if the view had zoomed in. Navigation
around the website was normal.

At any rate, what this experiment proved is that there is an OS sensitivity.
I am going back to 97SE as we do not have a budget to buy XP and be
legitimate. This presentation will be used one time (I hope). I considered
dragging one of my PCs to the clubhouse, but decided that I would rather
not take it off my wired network.

I am in the process of putting 97SE back on and then will try your
suggestions.
