A problem occured by a windows XP update

Hello,

I installed today the following Windows XP update:

Update for Windows XP (KB900485)
Install this update to prevent an issue in which you may receive a “stop
0x7e in AEC.SYS†error message on a computer that is running Windows XP
Service Pack 2. The error may occur during startup, or after the system has
started. AEC.SYS is the acoustic echo canceling driver. After you install
this item, you may have to restart your computer.

It caused a problem in my Aver Media TV program. Now I can watch TV but I
cant hear the sound.

I tryed to uninstall the windows update, and to reinstall the Aver Media
card driver, but nothing helped. It still only display the TV program but no
remain mute.

Can someone please help?

If you uninstalled the update and the problem is still there try
reinstalling the soundcard drivers.

Is the problem you can't hear any sound from your computer or is it just the
tv card?

Hi Glen,

Thanks for your response.

It was only the TV card that faild to sound. The rest of the sound devices
worked fine. Any way, I did some registry cleaning and reinstalled the TV
card driver and now it's back to work!

You can try a System Restore to before you installed the update.
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
"Restore my computer to an earlier time"

If that doesn't help, contact Microsoft for free support of

Glad you got it working. But this should teach you not to trust every
update MS sends your way. Only install the ones you actually need.
