A problem I may encounter

In the near future I plan to build a new computer. At the moment I have the
upgrade version of XP and A windows 98 disk that I use to install XP if I
re-format my hard drive. The problem is that The new PC i am building has a
160Gb Hard Drive which I know Windows 98 will not support. I don't wish to
spend £160 on the full version of Windows XP as I was planning only to buy a
second licence online. Is there anyway to bypass this problem?

Hi,

If the WinXP CD has at least SP1 included, then you can do this. Boot with
the CD and start a clean installation. You will be prompted to insert a CD
from a qualifying product. Switch to the Win98 CD at this point. Once it
verifies and proceeds, go back to the WinXP CD and continue. There is no
need to install anything from the Win98 disk, setup just needs to verify
that you possess one.
