Hello Folk,

We have SBS 2003 Service Pack 1 on our Domain Server, and we are running
Outlook 2003 SP2 on Windows XP SP2 computers.

Basically, one of our people has a folder below the Inbox called Info, and
there is a rule (called Info) which specifies when e-mail is sent to a
particular e-mail address, the item is moved into this Info folder.
Everything seemed fine, but the Info folder did disappear a few times.

So, I changed the name of the folder to Sales (as I thought having a rule
and folder the same name might be causing a problem), and modified the rule
to move the items into this Sales folder.

Things worked for a while, but again the folder has disappeared twice in the
last couple of weeks.

Now, the user SWEARS that they aren't deleting the folder !!

So, I'm wondering, has anybody seen this, or know what is going on ??

Many Thanks,

You don't have mailbox manager policy rules set up on the server to act on
the inbox in any way, do you? I really can't see how the folder would just
disappear on its own, without any user intervention whatsoever.

Are they using cached mode? Are there any errors in the 'sync issues'
folder?

Does the same thing occur if you move the Sales folder to the root of the
mailbox, instead of under Inbox? (FWIW, I usually set up users with a folder
called _User's Saved Items at the root of their mailbox, and train them to
create folders underneath that - and not create folders under inbox or sent
items - it makes some kinds of archiving a lot easier, down the line).

There isn't a mailbox manager policy set-up (it is just a default SBS 2003
installation).

We are in cached mode, and there are a couple of sync errors (one about a
local failure, the other was a sync log, but neither of them suggested
anything about the folder in question).

I haven't tried moving the folder outside of the Inbox ... Might try that
the next time it disappears !!

Thanks,
