A Little Help With My Desktop?

Hey all, here's an easy one! Dad is running a basic Vista package. He went on
hols for a week. When he returned and turned his computer on this happened...
When looking at the desktop, the task bar down the bottom is an extra bit
thick. Also its like the start icon (bottom left) got 2 sizes bigger, so you
can only see half the icon. Also the icons at the bottom right about 7 of
them, sound, computers, norton etc, are not in single file like they used to
be they are now blocked on top of each other in two rows. How can I fix this
for him???

the task bar just got enlarged.

grab the top of it and drag it downward to shrink it back.
