A laser printer for home

I'm intentioned to let my old Epson Stylus Pro retire and buy a b/w laser
printer. Considering the budget and the specs, the models I feel like
choosing from are:

1)HP 1015,
2)OKI B4250,
3)OKI B4350(which as far as I got differs from B4250 only in the support for
a bigger toner which can lead to some savings only in the long term).

I'm searching for a printer which can serve me for long with a good quality
and speed in text with some b/w detailed graphics and of course the less the
maintenance costs the better. At the moment I'm pretty much for the OKI
ones, but I'd like to have the opinion of someone who already had some
experiences with laser printing and maybe even with those models, both from
HP and OKI, that I'm considering to buy.

Any suggestion about other printers in that budget zone is welcome also.

Thanks in advance,

Might be good if you told us your "budget zone", rather than just
listing a couple of printers and expecting us to know their prices.

I apologize for the lack of information. The budget zone is 300 euro.

Basicly, stay away from anything called a Windows or GDI printer.
They are the worst words to put in a description, as they mean that the
printer willnot work with the next Windows version.

Get something that does PCL 5 or PCL 6. Or Postscript. Means that
the printer is more operating system independent.

Look at these, they are 2 that I own and use a lot, they have been
very good for me. Cheap, yet very good printers. I think (my opinion)
HP is very overpriced for what you get, I have owned and used many of
thier (HP) high-end printers and will never buy another one. I have no
first hand knowledge of OKI.

Samsung ML-1450 -

Brother MFC-9700

Each will run on virtually any OS

I own a midsize medical practice, therefore print anywhere from 5000 -
7000 pages per month. I had a very expensive HP that died about a year
ago. I took a cheap Samsung ML-1450 from my house to use till I got a
new printer. The staff commented that they liked the new printer much
better...not as big, noisy, didn't take as long to print, and the
prints looked very good. I left it there and bought a new one (Samsung
ML-1450) for a little over $200.00 at Microcenter.
I have never been a HP fan but thought different about thier printers
(for the better). I know the repair guys like them because they keep a
lot of HP parts on hand and they are very expensive.
Another story....my wife runs the practice and wanted an all-in-one
laser for home since she does most of the work there (networked to the
office). We went to Microcenter in Duluth (Atlanta area) to see what
they had. Of course the first thing the guy mentioned was HP. I told
him I did not want HP, he said he totally agrees. Don't know if that
was his true feelings or just saying what I wanted to hear.
Anyway we left with a Brother MFC 9700 for barely over $300.00.
I never thought Brother was a good product but the print, copy, and
fax quality is very good. It also is a pretty descent general purpose
scanner.
Have had the Samsung over 2 years...absolutely no problem...3000
prints appx. $70.00
Brother for about 6 months, no problem costs for 7000 prints appx.
$60.00

I also own a Konica/Minolta color laser...Magicolor 2200...it prints
very well but expensive to maintain...reminds me of the HP I had
Own 2 more Samsung lasers...another ML-1450 and a Samsung all-in-one
laser...don't know the model but I am less impressed with this - is
not as good a printer as the other Samsungs.
Actually I have several printers.....2 Dye-subs, 1 thermal dye (same
thing?), 13 Lasers. I love printers for some reason. I even have an
old Kodak XL7700 that I really like...just hard to find ribbon for it.

Sorry for the long drawn out story....my wife is on the phone talking
to a friend she hasn't talked to in years....I am bored...and you are
to if you read this whole thing.
