A file labelled "~" shows up on my desktop sometimes when I shut down IE 6

What is up with that? I can't find a program to open it & it only happens once in awhile. The file is quite large.

My son get's that when he downloads things,~ can be
deleated safely,it's anoying but.....what 'r' kids for!
 
Hi Ann - It's a copy of your Address Book (caused by a glitch in a recent
OE hotfix). MS is aware of the problem. You can either ignore it, delete
it (it will probably be recreated the next time you make an Address Book
change), or hide it - or you can just be happy to have a backup available.
Just rename the extension to .wab and open in Notepad to see this.

Reading this thread made me realise that I am no longer getting that on my
desktop. It used to appear every time I used my laptop and, knowing what it
was, just deleted it. I can't remember doing anything to get rid of it
permanently.

It only shows up if you changed something in the Address Book.
