Hi NG,

Just got my new PC up and running, having the following configuration

Motherboard: P4P800 Deluxe
Graphic card: Sapphire 9700 Pro AIW
Soundcard: Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2
OS: Win XP US with SP1

I've tried all day to get the TV application to work but no luck.

First I updated all drivers to catalyst 3.6 with the files found at
http://download.sapphiretech.com/downloads/downloads.asp
for the Radeon Series.

The TV wizard loaded and allowed me to choose country, but didn't do any
channel scan. When the TV application launched I could only choose between
Composite and S-Video. I didn't get any TV channels (and yes that cable tv
is connected to the PC).

I then went to ATI's site and tried their files at
http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodTy
pe=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=7&submit.y=8

selected bundle catalyst 3.6
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-91-030625a-010027c-efg.exe
didn't go too well all the ATI WDM's disappeared and where listed as unknown
devices.

Then I found a post via google mentioning that there was a possible conflict
between 9700 Pro AIW and Audigy cards and that Catalyst 3.4 drivers should
work fine.

I removed all ATI entries from the add/remove programs and installed all the
catalyst 3.4 drivers found at
http://mirror.ati.com/support/products/radeonwinxppreviousdrivers.html
in the following order
wxp-w2k-radeon-7-88-030430m-008946c-efg.exe
tv-capture-wdm-6-14-10-6201v1.exe
control-panel-7-88-030430m-008946c-efg.exe
hydravision-3-20-2020.exe
mmc-8-5-0-0.exe
(leaving the mmc-8-1-0-0-dao-mdac.exe which had already been installed with
the 3.6).

now all the WDM devices are back in place and no unknown items are listed on
the PC.

On launch of the TV application I get the TV Wizard.
First welcome screen <Next>, then
Tip for right click <Next>, then
Channel Detection Wizard (Fast Search) <Next>, then
Step1 Select the proper cable or antenna for your region <dialog box> with
no entires to choose from.
Step2 Autoscan disabled in the dialog box

.... and I cant get any futher. Next is disabled and it doesn't matter if I
go back and select Exhaustive Search.

What I'm I doing wrong? all suggestions are warmly welcomed.

Did you update your Windows to DirectX 9.0b ?

If yes, there could be the problem.
With my AIW8500DV everything was nice until I upgraded to that DirectX 9.0b
by using windows update..

Just waiting for correction patch from ATI our MS.

Hi Andre,

Yes I'm using Directx 9.0b and Windows Media Encoder 9.0.

I just removed all the ATI stuff and re-installed all the Catalyst 3.6
drivers and ATI Multimedia Center 8.5.0.0
I carefully followed the installation instructions, disabled antivirus and
other applications and installed in the same sequence that ATI suggest in
their pages.

http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonopt-xp.html?type=xp&prodTy
pe=mm&prod=aiwWINXPdriver&submit.x=6&submit.y=6

and

http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodTy
pe=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=7&submit.y=9

Everything works well, except the TV tuner - nothing happens. I now have the
S-video and Composite option. The online help for the lauch pad states
"If your system does not have a TV tuner, Video In appears in place of TV in
the LaunchPad. "

So somehow the TV tuner is not dected even though the device manager lists a
"ATI WDM TV Tuner" and it's reported as working correctly.

If this is caused by directx 9.0b is there then any remedy? and if not does
anybody have a clue when a fix will be ready - weeks, months?

You did nothing wrong, except you upgraded to DX9.0b, there's a known error
with DX9.0b, the AIW Catalyst 3.x drivers & PAL TV...

I did the 'copy an old version of kstvtune.ax' workaround mentioned in the
thread under WinXP Home SP1 and it's working fine for me but it has hosed
some folks boxes. (see page five.)
