9600 pro: Quitest?

If I got a 9600 pro I'd like one with a very quiet fan.

Which are they best for this?

The ones without a fan.

A friend just bought two Radeon 9600 cards made by Connect3D with the Ati
chipset and they don't have fans - just a nice silver coloured heatsink. He
plays loads of games

Yep, but I wanted a pro, which I know has a fan, hence looking for the
quietest 9600 pro.

You might want to consider one of the Zalman VGA heatsinks. I just installed
one on my VGA card and, joy, no more noisey fan.

The problem with fan noise is that they are subjective. Some people say a
fan is quiet because the noise does not bother them or because they have
crap hearing. Similarly, some people are more affected by high pitched fan
noise - CPU fans have this problem - or lower bassed noise.

It is horses for courses so the best thing to do is to ignore someone saying
such and such is silent because it might be quiet to them but not to you. If
you want quiet then get rid of the fans.

More and more card makers are selling VGA cards with heatsinks - they are
silent.
