9600 vs 9600pro

Hi NG!

I have a Shuttle Barebone with a S3 ProSavagrDDR - i know guys ;)
Now I'm looking for a new one and the only decision i have to make is
ati 9600 or 9600 pro.

I don't play 3d games very often, so i also wanna a very good signal
quality, low noise (thats the part where the 9600 makes the run), dvi-d
or dvi-i input.

for me the best option seems to be the sapphire 9600 or 9600 pro with
about 100 (non pro) and 135 (pro) euro - but im not sure about it.

is there any other card you can recommend?
which card has the best signal quality?
which 9600pro has a silent fan, and how noisy are silent?
how can i compare the 9600 with other cards (eq to gf4 4200ti?)?
how is the difference between the 3d performance 9600/9600pro?

thank you for any suggestions.

9600 Pro is a good card for £ 85 delivered £ 125 buys you a FX5900XT

Between that is the 9600XT & FX5700 Ultra

You pays your money and makes your choice.

Hi Nick!

thanks, its seems that tha 9600pro is the best choice for me.
now its interesting for me, which one has the best vga/dvi signal
quality and a very low noise fan (most important!!).

so true ;) - the difference between a 9600 and a 9600pro isnt that big,
about 30euro

Historically the image quality has gone Matrox > ATI > Nvidia. However
with the current generation of boards if there's enough difference for
anybody but an expert to spot it usually means that one of the boards is
broken or defective.

As for noise, Sapphire has a 9600 Ultimate with no fan, or you can just
get a Zalman ZM80C.

hi klh!
With this one you can control the fan speed = low noise

thank you ... this is the perfect card for me. www.au-ja.de
said that this card has a excellent signal quality and an adjustable
fan control which is great for silent freaks like me

the onyl problem i have is: this card isn't available in europe
anymore. tyan chanceld the production of this/all graphic cards.
the only change i have is a shop in austria (about 170€).

did you know where i can buy this card in europe - maybe uk or
netherlands or so?

best regs simon
