We tried to deploy KB885250 on two of our Windows 2003 server; however, it
cause the Workstation service, Net Logon, and a few others to fail during
startup. The patched showed a fail during the installation in the event
logs, so it was unable to uninstall itself. The patch updates the mrxsmb.sys
and rdbss.sys in the...\system32\drives directories; when I tried to verify
the files in directory, I received an "access is denied" error. After
resetting the permissions on the drivers directory, I was able to reboot the
system without any errors. On a second 2k3 server I received the same
permission problems, but the files were also missing.
Has anyone else experience the same probmes with this patch?
