I just bought a new pc with windows xp media center edition version 2002
sp1

and partition magic 8.1. I would like to setup a second bootable partition
to

run two windows xp. The current xp will be for applications requiring high
security

e.g online banking, the second xp will be for testing new applications etc.

Currently the first partition has a size of 20 GB. Partition magic's
documentation

and other sources in the internet seem to state that a bootable partition

has to start within the first 8GB of the HDD. However in one of PM papers

called: <solution: how to partition your hard disk to install windows
2000/XP on

an existing windows 2000/xp system (pm 8.0)> they say that:

<If your system supports INT13 extensions then windows 2000 and windows xp
can

boot from a partition that begins beyond the 8 GB boundary >.

Q1: does it work this way ?

Q2: how can I find out if my system supports INT13. there is nothing in my
system docu.

Q3: can I use the 'partition copy function' of PM8 to create the 2nd XP
partition or do

I have to install XP via the recovery CD ?

Q4: do I have to install bootmagic to select the xp to boot or can I use xp'
s bootmanager ?

Tx a lot.

Hildegard, if your computer is fairly new then it will support the INT13
ext. You can use Partition Magic to create a new
partition and then let the WinXP CD format it. When you choose to install
the second version, select New Installation>Advanced. Choose to elect the
partition you want WinXP to install. It will then go ahead and also create
a Boot Menu so that you can boot either WinXP.
