7 appears in line with text when typing

While I am typing a 7 appears in line with the text. What could cause this?

If you are saying that Word inserts the digit 7 unexpectedly, that could be
triggered by AutoCorrect (or possibly AutoComplete for an AutoText entry).
Are you typing something specific when you see the number? Which version of
Word?
 
We use version 2007. Our QMR is editing/updating a manual. The 7 pops up at
no specific time. thanks for your reply.

Since you are using Word 2007, AutoComplete cannot be an issue (it is only
supported for dates in that version).

Are there any add-ins installed?
