7.5 minute beeps

After installing xp in my new computer I get a two tone
beep every 7.5 minutes just like clock work. I am running
an AMD xp2800 on an Abit kd7 mother board. What is causing
this?

Do you have a monitor program running in the background to watch fan speeds,
CPU temperature, etc.?

Have you tried using msconfig.exe to disable all startup programs, reboot,
and see if it continues under a clean[er] boot environment?

I had something similar with an Intel motherboard.
seems like the temperature monitor didn't like XP.
fixed it with a bios update.
