What's the point of having this type of machine as I have when there is no
software/applications right now to take full advantage of it.?
Is there any software or applications out now?

Never heard of "Early Adopters", eh?

Most people going 64 bit right now are gamers or technology hobbyists. They
want the best of the best - top notch. Others (even some in the last
categories) believe that the "revolution is right around the corner" - and
they may be right. You have to consider how far things have progressed in
computing in terms of speed and available software solutions in the last 15
years. It's nothing less than astounding.

Take a look at this page and the corresponding links.

In my opinion - things are getting there - but I will not be recommending
that the general public start buying 64bit processors until late this year
or next. They just won't see the benefit - nor will they be able to keep
the machine long enough to see it.
