64 bit processor: XP 64 or not?

Would anyone here know if MS has disabled the use of packet writing software for Windows 64?

I have been trying for the last several weeks to get my Lite-On DVD to use the Nero version INCD4 that came with my new computer. Initially it worked, but since I enabled automatic updates it hasn't.

I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but one day I could copy / paste / delete files to and from the RW disk, then the next day I can only read or copy them to the hard drive.

This is a new computer I assembled this year, my other machine works fine as an XP SP2 with the same INCD4 software. It shows the remaining available free space on the disk, Win 64 doesn't, the disk is always full. Packet writing software allows one to use a RW type DVD disk just like a large floppy, and it is something I really would like to have back and working.

If I don't get this solved soon I will have to remove Win 64 and go back to XP 32, at least I know that will work. The full version name is Windows XP Professional x64 Edition - Evaluation copy. Build 3790 (Service Pack 1)

No, they haven't. And Roxio 8 does it, I believe. The problem is that packet
writing software is a system level driver - and there aren't drivers
available from all the usual sources yet. MS has never created packet
writing software or drivers of its own, for CD or DVD. So third parties need
to do it.

I'd like to have faith here Chip, but I've been unsucessful finding such a user.
There is a real posibility they are extinct.
OMG the reviews for Roxio 8 suck, and the price (3 times that for Nero) really are a tad off-putting.

How can use INCD with my OS - can anyone here help - please?
or
Is anyone here is using INCD with Windows 64 sucessfully?

Roxio 8 Drag-2-disk works fine in x64. Don't know where 3 x Nero price
comes from. Pretty comparably priced where I have seen them. As to the
reviews, both seem to 'suck' but there are also avid users of both.
