554 Relay access denied

When I try to forward an e-mail from Office Outlook 2003 , I get a message "
554 < Email address>: Relay access denied" This has never happened before, -
what does it mean and how do I fix it?. Thanks.

Are you on a network other than the one containing your outgoing mail
server?

No. I have tried forwarding to my office and to Gmail with same result. Never
a problem until today??

Hmmm, has anything changed in the meantime? Updates, installs, etc?
