When I run Norton Anti-Virus it tells me it has scanned @ 80,000 files.
I was trying to find out why I had so many files. It seems that 51,000 of
them are in C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\ Local Settings.
Of the four folders in this directory, I have deleted all files from
History, Temp, and
Temporary Internet files. The fourth folder, Application Data, has only
1,513 files in it. So, while Local Settings supposedly has @ 51,000 files
in it, the total of the files I can see in the four folders is only 1,513
files.
Also, I have XP installed on a second rarely used, backup hard drive
(E with
most all the same programs installed and data backed up. On this drive the
same
Local Settings directory has only 96 files (which tallies with the files I
can see).
So, where are the other @ 50,000 files? Why is there such a huge
difference between
the two drives? And yes, I have set switches to view all hidden files and
system
operating files.
